Spencer F. Maddox III MD
Dr. Spencer F. Maddox is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist and has practiced at the Eye Center of Central Georgia since 1993. A native of Macon, he earned his medical degree from Mercer University School of Medicine. His postgraduate internship and residency were completed at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, where he was Chief Resident in Ophthalmology. He completed a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology at Atlanta's Scottish Rite Children's Hospital.
Dr. Maddox is the only pediatric ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained adult strabismus surgeon (a condition in which the eyes are not aligned in parallel, causing a cross-eyed appearance) in Middle and South Georgia. Dr. Maddox is bilingual, speaking fluent Spanish. He began performing refractive surgery in 1993.
In addition to refractive, adult strabismus and pediatric surgery, he also performs cataract surgery at the Eye Center of Central Georgia's onsite surgery center.
